Hello everyone! I hope you are having a good day! Today we will talk about my career.
I am studying design since 2020 and it has happened to me many times that when I tell people that I am studying design, they only relate it to drawing or making logos. So, in this blog I would like to give my vision on design and its different branches.
First, let's talk about Graphic Design. Making logos is a part of graphic design, but it also has other things. To define it better, Graphic Design is the profession and academic discipline whose activity consists of projecting visual communications aimed at transmitting specific messages to social groups with specific objectives. You can make posters, banners, web pages or different visual media for some purpose. It is not simply a '' drawing '', it is communication. And you can apply it in different areas, such as business, social, artistic, etc. It is a very open world.
On the other hand, we have Industrial Design. I think it is more related to the architectural side. In this area you design objects or services that are going to be used globally. This leads to a better quality of life through innovative products.
However, I feel that there are some areas of design that are not highly valued. For example, an area that we could define as '' investigative ''. For me, this is a set of methods and procedures used to collect and analyze measures of the variables specified in the investigation of the problem. I remember that I had a branch called Ergonomics and Design, where we talked about the problems of the design of cities or buildings, which did not take into account disabled people or people with dementia.
In summary, in order not to make this blog so long, I would like to end by saying that I feel that design is not highly valued as it should be. Design is everywhere in our daily life. It is a career that solves problems for us every day.
See you next time!
